Dear blizzard,
Yes, the attitude is appaling. IT is a true story. You can read the news coverage in the HIndustan Times at the following link: http://www.hindustantimes.com/StoryPage/StoryPage.aspx?id=ad2d3a50-e5eb-462d-a9e3-cc8ed823eaa6

Hi Saliloquay,
I am not sure if this is a true story...but the way it was written so beautifully with all the feelings I am  assuming it is..
Tugged at my hearstings...when will people respect others as another 'thinking human' with or without a 'wheelchair'...Such apalling attitude...how they forget to be 'human' in all this..

You are a terrific person and yes 'the love of the family' is the strength and power !!

Hi Salil

This was quite a lesson. Hats off to your patience and guts man! They needed someone to show them that a sign is not important than the person. How are they trained i wonder? If A simple lesson of humanity is lost on them then they should be taking classes in -how to behave like a human.!

What matters in the end is love of course, which you have personified in your wife.

Love

This was an exposure of the obstinacy of trained staff even in airlines where they should be aware of rules to accomodate special needs. I once got into a fight at the railway ticket counter in Hyderabad. For twenty minutes the staff harassed a man saying that he did not have a certificate. Unless he had a certificate they would not issue him one. when I realised that the man was visually challenged and that they were in fact asking him for "proof" I lost my temper I admire your patience.

Hi Saranya,
This is a partial reality of my life. There are so many other aspects to it...Blackie, our pet dog, my nephew and niece, the love of family and friends, and the constant wonderment of things.

Thanks CaravanBpl for dropping by on my page. I like the Mencius quote. To be honest, there is bitterness but one tries to channelise all negative emotions into something constructive. Hopefully things will change. Unfortunately they don't always change as quickly as you want them to, but one keeps on.

very nice...I wonder if this is the reality of your life...

That was a real roller-coaster of a read - without any shades of irony & bitterness (just coz u're on a wheelchair) - and in it I found myself experiencing the total acceptance & love specially between you and your wife.
I guess most of us are not ready to lend a supportive ear & eye - jaundiced by the general view of someone with a visible disability who has accepted it and plain & simple just wants to move on in life.

Reminds me of the following:

One may have a blazing hearth in one's soul, and yet no one ever comes to sit by it. -Vincent van Gogh
and
To feed men and not to love them is to treat them as if they were barnyard cattle. To love them and not respect them is to treat them as if they were household pets. -Mencius

This reminds of one of the best ads I have ever seen. It was done by someone I know for a Sakti foundation in chennai.
I was wondering whether you were the person who acted in it.

In any case mate, you never know. On the internet, all that matters is the mind. And you have a healthier one than those sickos!
