My Maruti Spacecraft
A bored journey –
On the horizon
I spot a star.
I imagine
I steer a spacecraft;
Not a car.
A stone I avoid –
That’s a mean asteroid
O’er a bump I fly
“Relax”, say I,
“We’re in Spiral Galaxy S10E
That’s our current destiny!”
Captain's log: “On course –
All systems running fine!”
Then I remember I'm old
And running thirty-nine!
As the sleepy kid
On the roadside
Looks up from it,
Does he understand?
To him, was I a speeding comet?
