Hi Saranya,
This is a partial reality of my life. There are so many other aspects to it...Blackie, our pet dog, my nephew and niece, the love of family and friends, and the constant wonderment of things.
Thanks CaravanBpl for dropping by on my page. I like the Mencius quote. To be honest, there is bitterness but one tries to channelise all negative emotions into something constructive. Hopefully things will change. Unfortunately they don't always change as quickly as you want them to, but one keeps on.
Thanks Hespera. You write pretty well, yourself. Just read your interesting short story and will read more of your stuff over the wekend.
Dear Patrick,
Thanks for your comment, even if it's a vicious one. Why does one write? Well, many reasons, but one that comes to mind is a quote by WIlliam Faulkner who says, "I never know what I think about something until I read what I've written on it." Besides, writing is fun. I'm hooked to it, like Raymond Craver. I'm curious why you think the piece is not mine. I am sure you have a reasoned argument and I'd love to hear it. Also, it's wonderful to receive different viewpoints. They tell us a little about the kind of people we are. You'll find it interesting that the same post on my blogspot blog received quite a different comment. You are welcome to check it out at www.salilchaturvedi.blogspot.com and leave a comment there as well, even if it's the same one. Cheers.
Dear Swaraj, Muthu, Sunkan, Dr Madhvi,
Thanks for your comments.
Swaraj, I went with the Ayurveda Acharya, because that is the only thing that worked, finally!
Yes Sunkan, finding out about the chemicals and their toxicity has been quite a revelation for me as well. These products will never be the same for me too.
Muthu, I am not a chemist by profession but am very much at the receiving end of highly paid corporate chemists, as we are all. I agree that too much probing will take the fun out of life. But I also know that these products are taking the fun out of many people’s lives by inducing cancer, reproductive abnormalities, reduced fertility, breast cancer, lead poisoning and what not. Scary, isn’t it?
Dr Madhavi, I found a very good site on all these issues that you will find interesting as a doctor. www.toxicslink.org. They have also done a recent study on toys and lead content. You will recall that a lot of toys have been recently pulled out of the market because of the harm they can cause to children’s development. That study and much more material is available with an Indian perspective on the site. It’s nice to know that there are people out there fighting our fights to make this world a safer place. More strength to them!
Dear One Percent,
Since I am a disabled person and blog on disability issues, I thought you might like to visit my blog - www.salilchaturvedi.blogspot.com, where you will find articles on disability too, if you click on the disability tag.
Thanks Lekha, for the appreciation. Do read the other one too - Narendar's Jungle Sense and tell me what you think.
CV Rajan: Taken note of your comment and will be thinking about it. Thanks for reading the story. Also try www.salilchaturvedi.blogspot.com.
What a lovely read. It made me want to be in that Post Office too, to witness the first steps. Keep writing!
But I Am On A Wheelchair!
